Dot was influenced to enter real estate by her father in 1966. She was married to John Fly and they had two children; John, Jr. and Lynn. Dot has been active in the community, serving as board president for the Realtors of Southern KY and as a director of the KY Association of Realtors. She is a Certified Real Estate Specialist and holds GRI designations.

Carrying on the family tradition, Lynn Fly Whitmer joined her mother, Dot, in the real estate industry in 1989. She graduated from WKU and the Ward Elliott Institute of Real Estate.
